I stayed at the Playa Mazatlan Beach Hotel at the beginning of December 2017.   I had won three free nights so that was a good incentive to check it out.  I was happily surprised.

We received an Oceanview room on the main floor- which gave us a sliding glass door to a terrace with the beach right in front of us.  This room was truly ocean front!  It has a small table out front with chairs to sit at and the bar was close enough to the room that we could see it and walk over to get a drink.

Here is a video of the room we stayed in (sorry for the mess- I forgot to do it at check in)

Bar service was open from 11am till late (never stayed up late enough to see the end of service)  There were five bars- main bar by the beach, a swim up bar at the rock pool, a pool bar at the main pool, a cart bar that was near the beach, and a sports bar.  There were also wait staff that came and served on the beach some times.

The beach was beautiful and you could go for long walks.  There were vendors, but they were actually cool to chat with them.  There are lots of different sports you can do on the beach or rentals you can do for water sports right by the resort.

The hotel also provides palapas to sit under on the beach as well as loungers.  It should be noted that they also sell day passes to cruisers, so during port days for the cruise ships it can get busy on the beach!

The best part of this hotel is the MANY pools and hot tubs!  They are all over the property, from the multi layer rock pool which has 4 different levels with pools and hot tubs, to the main pool, to the quite pool, to the kids pool with a Pirate Ship.   There are also hot tubs on different levels of the hotel- which makes for a fun searching expedition to see how many you can find... we found two extra ones.

They also have created a cenote and walking path at the resort which is neat to check out.

The food was decent.  We loved the breakfast.  The buffet is a bit smaller, but we found the food good.  We tried the Brazilian Al La Carte and it was delicious- and i always love being served the traditional way with the meat on the sword and then sliced right onto my plate!   The Italian one was also very good, but the service was a bit slow.

Now the downside of the rooms- some of them-especially the oceanview ones- can be a bit loud at night.  In Mazatlan the beaches are filled with big brass bands- tubaas and all- so this does carry into your room.  At night there is a club next door by the rock pool so that also can carry into your room.  An interior room by the quiet pool would be the quietest if you want that.

The hotel is located in the action, so it is very easy to go out to eat, shop, or party which is great as Mazatlan has some cool shops and bars.

Overall I would recommend this hotel for those who wish to be at an all inclusive that is well located and want to do some things off resort.  This is not a 5 star hotel but is a good value priced hotel with some really neat features and something fun for every age.
